As Christians we should own the market on change.
So many of us get into this place where we are on autopilot and we’ve put the cruise control on in our Christianity.
We get saved, we get passionate about the things of God, we read the word of God and we pray and then it comes to a time when it all just stops.
And we think that God is continuing to do this work in us, which he wants to & has promised to, but he wants us to work with him.
He wants to be a part of the journey of building the walls of our lives on His foundation.
We’ve got to realise that growth is optional in the Christian life. The reason that it’s optional is because we can choose not to grow.
We can choose to sit back and just slumber through this life on our way to heaven.
Or, we can choose to give ourselves to the life that God has called us to.
To fulfil the purpose that God has given us.
To do the work that God has put in our hands to complete this side of Heaven.
That which only we can do because there is only one of us.
It’s on you if you’re not growing, it’s not on God. If you feel distant from God, he hasn’t moved.
We have the option of change, we have the option of growth, we have the option of continuing this fight or sitting down and watching the blood fly around.
When was the last time you got a new story, a new testimony, you made a new pledge to God?
When was the last time you actually updated the story of what God is doing in your life instead of repeating the same story you’ve been telling for the last 25 years?
Christianity is not a spectator sport.
It never was.
It isn’t now.
And it never will be.
Christianity is a war.
Yes, we are promised abundant life.
Yes, we are promised eternal life.
Yes, we are promised good things in this life.
Yes, we are promise blessing.
Yes, we are promised grace.
Yes, we are promised power to be overcomers in His name.
Gods love is unconditional, but our growth is conditional.
It’s conditional on you getting involved in this war.
Getting involved in the age old war between Satan and God, between heaven and hell, between good and evil.
If you don’t think there is a war going on still, tell me, just stop and think for a moment about what is going on in your mind right now.
What has been going on in your head this past week, in your heart this past year?
Tell me if you haven’t had any conflict.
Tell me your life has been a breeze.
Tell me your life has been the easiest it’s ever been and if you can tell me any of those things, I can tell you that your Christianity is dead.
Faith without works is dead.
Faith that isn’t tested is dead.
Ask yourself, is my faith dead?
Am I growing?
