Running Late

Clock time

I was late the other night, or at least so I thought.
Driving fast and a little bit crazy, trying not to get caught!
“It’s nearly time!” I said again, “I’m nearly there, home free!”
As I arrive, I’m not the last! I wasn’t late, the stress was me.

Another night I’m off again and out the door still frantic
I said goodbye, I’m sure I did? No time to be romantic.
In the car and down the road, the clock is all I see,
But again I arrive, they’re all relaxed, the only panic was me.

A few more times, the same again, I think it could be a sign,
I thought the world was in a rush, but maybe it’s my mind.
Next time I might try, to do things differently,
Stop the rush. Release the stress. It’s not the clock… it’s me.
